Teen Avalanche Course

The Junior Mountaineering Team and Montana Mountaineering Association present an Avalanche Course for Teens. In partnership with Friends of Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center and Bridger Bowl Ski Area the course consists of an evening classroom session on Thursday, January 22 held at Bozeman High School and a field session on Saturday, January 24 utilizing the backcountry immediately outside of Bridger Bowl Ski Area.

This course is specifically designed for middle and high school students who are skiing the Bridger Ridge or accessing other backcountry areas.
During the field sessions students will identify avalanche terrain, dig snow pits, identify weak layers, make stability evaluations and practice avalanche rescue.

If possible, each participant should have their own rescue gear including all of the following: avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel.

Participants must be 13-19 years of age. COST: $20.
